Hello and welcome! I’m Tim McDonald, a Phoenix-based sports photographer and the sole proprietor of Tim McDonald Photography. My journey behind the lens began with a simple Christmas gift—a Kodak Instamatic 110 camera—that sparked a lifelong enjoyment of capturing life’s moments otherwise forever lost.
That early interest evolved into a true passion as I began capturing my children's participation in organized sports. I quickly discovered a unique joy in documenting athletic competitions—a feeling that's difficult to put into words but has kept me hooked ever since. Whether it's the intensity of a game, the emotion on an athlete's face, the split-second moments of victory and disappointment —these are the moments and stories I love to capture and tell.
When I’m not working my day job as a Program Manager for Northrop-Grumman, you'll find me roaming sidelines, courtsides, tracksides, and cross-country courses across Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. I'm proud to cover athletic events for premier high school sports websites like MaxPreps and MileSplit, with occasional freelance gigs for publications like Outside Magazine and companies such as Sportograf.
Sports photography is more than just a picture; it's a testament to the hard work of the athletes, dedication of the coaches, and unwavering support of the parents and the unforgettable spirit of the game. This website and images are my humble attempt to honor these individuals as they seek to give their all for themselves, their teammates, and fans; I wish you all the best.
